TECHNICAL PRODUCTION MANAGER

We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Production Manager (Full-time) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of live events, ensuring all technical aspects are delivered to the highest standards.

This role demands expertise in audio systems, LED wall installation, event lighting installation, projector installation, rigging, low-voltage LED knowledge, and technical drawings. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical proficiency, and a commitment to safety and excellence.

RESPONSIBILITIES

​

Technical planning and execution

​​

  • Design, plan, and execute technical requirements as well as manage logistics for your event.

  • Plan all technical and logistical aspects of events

  • Create Risk Assessments

  • Create Technical Drawings

  • Book relevant technical expertise to suit budgets and requirements

  • Oversee the design, setup, and operation of audio systems, ensuring optimal sound quality for each event.

  • Manage the installation and configuration of LED walls, LED lighting systems, and projectors, tailoring setups to event-specific requirements.

  • Devise and supervise rigging operations, ensuring all systems comply with industry standards.

  • Interpret and produce technical drawings for event layouts, rigging points, and equipment placements.

Team leadership

​

  • Lead and coordinate technical teams.

  • Assign tasks and monitor performance to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met.

​​

​Client liaison

​​​

  • Engage with clients to understand their vision and technical requirements.

  • Provide expert advice on technical solutions to enhance the event experience.

​

​Budget and resource management

​

  • Develop and manage budgets for technical aspects of events.

  • Coordinate the procurement and maintenance of technical equipment.

​

​Safety and Compliance

​

  • Ensure all technical operations comply with health and safety regulations.

  • Stay updated on industry standards and best practices.

​

​KEY REQUIREMENTS

​

  • Proven experience in Technical Production Management within the live events industry.

  • Ability to interpret and create accurate technical drawings and rigging plots.

  • In-depth knowledge of current technologies and equipment used in live event production.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and adaptability in high-pressure situations.

  • Exceptional organisational and project management skills.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS/ATTRIBUTES

​

  • Certifications in rigging, health and safety, or specific technical areas.

  • Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Vectorworks).

  • Familiarity with the latest advancements in event technology.

YOU WILL BE

​

  • Creating and modifying production ready artwork files, including retouching as required, ensuring colour accuracy, resolution, and file formats across large (and small) scale outputs 

  • Investigating processes and finding solutions for print and production challenges 

  • Working directly with suppliers to ensure quality assurance and manage print specs 

  • Creating documentation to assist with on site installs  

  • Consulting on different print methods, substrates, finishes and solutions 

  • Arranging pre-production samples to ensure consistency across different print methods, materials and finishes 

  • Adapting client files for production 

  • Organised, attentive and happy to work independently 

  • Able to work quickly and efficiently and meet deadlines 

  • Comfortable presenting work to internal and external stakeholders and clients 

  • Methodical and meticulous with a keen eye for detail and accuracy 

  • Self-motivated, proactive and organised 

  • Assisting the design team and project managers and social team with mock-ups and graphic support as needed  

 

YOU MUST HAVE

 

  • Excellent skills in Adobe Creative Suite 

  • Proven experience in a similar role 

  • Attention to detail and a passion for quality in every endeavour 

  • Experience in experiential design, events, large format print, branding, signage or similar  

  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking 

  • The ability to meet deadlines under pressure 

  • Excellent team player attitude 

  • Knowledge of 3D software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp) is a plus

THE ROLE

 

Made Up is a full-service Creative Production House. We are a dynamic team of designers, project managers, and makers. We pride ourselves on managing every aspect of the brief in-house. From creative concept and design to construction, build and installation (and everything else in between), we take care of the entire lifecycle of a project. 

 

With over 20 years of experience working with the world's biggest brands, we have delivered thousands of events, pop-up bars, brand activations, live events and retail design. We have worked with clients like British Airways, BBC, Google, Netflix, Facebook, Bentley, Apple, Youtube, Amazon, Prada, Tagheuer and many more.

 

Our offices and production facilities are housed under one roof, allowing all departments to work collaboratively on a brief. As a Creative Designer, you'll work closely with Project Managers and the production teams to bring your designs to life. You'll have the opportunity to see the project moving through our workshops and be able to speak with carpenters, metalworkers, scenic painters, the tech team and installation managers.

 

For this reason, this position is office based, and you'll need to be able to work from our Studio in South London.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE 

 

  • Experience working on a wide range of projects in a fast-paced environment 

  • Ability to interpret creative briefs and develop conceptual visuals

  • 3D modelling skills, ideally using Vectorworks (or a willingness to learn)

  • CAD drawing skills. Although we have a separate technical drafting team that you'll work closely with, you must be able to understand detailed technical drawings and occasionally produce basic drawings. 

  • Excellent presentation skills and knowledge of Indesign

  • Knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator

  • Understanding of materials and construction methods

  • Experience working with contractors, external suppliers or in-house production teams
